Hope you had a great Holiday season, and have stuck to all your New Year’s Resolutions so far! We’ve been busy at work out here on the Sunshine Coast, working hard at getting the SCCC back up and running. It’s been a while since our last post, and many of you have been asking questions about the status of the new club. So, we just wanted to provide everyone with an update on what we’ve been up to the past couple weeks.
Unfortunately, we are still having issues with finding a suitable property for the new SCCC. The old space has been leased out on a long term basis (first thing we looked into). We are still very open to suggestions if anyone has somewhere in mind. There are also some new by-laws in effect that we need to work around now. There are a couple more properties we are checking out soon, and are now working with a realtor to find an appropriate place to lease.
Another obstacle we’ve been working our way around is being prepared for any changes to the legal status of cannabis here in Canada. With the Trudeau government’s “Task Force” having recently returned with their recommendations, there will certainly be major changes to the requirements and guidelines we will have to adhere by. We’re working on trying to make sure our protocols and property are going to be up to snuff for after the eventual legalization occurs.
We wrote before briefly about the types of inventory we are going to be carrying. Aside from dry herb, oils and other tinctures, we will also carry various paraphernalia for medical application and some edible products. As well, one of the most exciting announcements from Trudeau’s “Task Force” was that they would allow for growing owning up to 4 cannabis plants for personal use, we are excited to announce we will be carrying some home-growing equipment like growing lights. You can check out some of the grow lights we are planning to stock and we will hopefully be stocking much more growing equipment as well such as fertilizers and other accessories.
Once we have finalized a space, we will be posting and updating with the next steps we need to take. We will be needing a few staff to help us out running the compassion club and so we will be creating job postings soon. If you are interested in being a part of the SCCC team you can forward us your resumes to us at anytime so we have them on hand!
As always, let us know if you have any questions on the status of all of the things we’re working on and if you want to get involved!
